The EL Advertising Awards are a traditional component of every EL Congress, designed to acknowledge and promote best practice in lottery sector advertising.
This year’s winners have been selected by delegates present at the Advertising Awards session at the EL Congress 2017 in Krakow, 5-8 June 2017. A Grand Prix Advertising Award, representing the best advertisement overall, has been presented during the closing dinner.

Eligibility

All EL Member Lotteries are eligible to enter the Advertising Awards.

Keeping with EL tradition, we invite entries for the best advertising films since the previous Congress. Advertisements and promotions released to market between June 2015 and April 2017 are eligible for participation in this year’s Awards Competition.

Print advertisements and promotions are not eligible for submission.

There is no limit on the number of entries an EL Member Lottery can submit in any one category or for the awards as a whole.

Submission procedure

All submission descriptions should be submitted in English and total no more than 500 words. Please use the EL2017 advertising award on-line form to nominate the category you would like your submission to be entered into.

When entry has been paid and confirmed you are requested to submitt for each entry:

  • high-resolution video or media file in MOV pro res (preferred) or other video file except for DCP
  • submission description(s) in .doc or .pdf filePlease send the files e.g. by Filemail or WeTransfer to awards@EL2017.pl and give the video and description file identification as described in sample.

All submissions must be submitted by 5 May 2017.

Note:

  • Each advertisement submitted should have a maximum length of 90 seconds. Non-English entries must be submitted as a dubbed English version or have English subtitles.
  • Campaigns divided in parts should be collated in 1 video, max 90 sec., otherwise they will be treated as separate entries.
  • There is no limit on number of entries per category, the fee is per entry.

Judging process

The judging panel will assess submissions against the defined criteria and select a shortlist of three submissions in each category.

The shortlisted submissions will be screened at the Interactive Advertising Awards area during the congress.
We encourage the EL Advertising Awards contestants and all delegates to attend and vote for their favorite. All delegates can vote once in each category.

The winners in each category will be announced and presented a trophy in the session on Wednesday, 7 June 2017.

From the four winning submissions, the panel will select the Grand Prix Advertising Award winner.
The decision of the judges will be final and binding and appeals will not be entered into. Please note that submissions will not be returned following judging.

Prizes

The winning entry in each category as well as the winner of the Grand Prix Advertising Award will be presented with a trophy. The trophies for the individual category winners will be presented following the voting during the Advertising Awards session on Wednesday, 7 June 2017.
The Grand Prix Advertising Award trophy will be presented the same evening at the EL 2017 closing dinner.

Entry fee

An entry fee of PLN 1650 (EUR 375 + VAT) per submission will be invoiced upon confirmation of your participation.
Entry fees must be received by 5 May 2017. Please note that there is no entry fee for the Grand Prix Advertising Award as winners from the four award categories will automatically be entered into the pool for this award.

Judging criteria

Entries will be judged against the following criteria:

  • Impact / effectiveness of the game / product
  • Information content (relevance to target audience)
  • Design / aesthetic appeal
  • Creativity
  • Ability to gain and maintain the customer’s attention (cut-through)
  • Ability to change customer perception
  • Any other criteria the judging panel deems appropriate

Jury Profiles

Sławomir Wojtkowski – director of Warsaw Advertising School, lecturer, coach and consultant in marketing communication. He is interested in different forms of advertising and promotion. He has been working in advertising business for the past 25 years in a few advertising agencies and publishing houses. He worked for such brands as National Bank of Poland, McDonalds Polska, Ikea, Velux, Grupa Żywiec. He is a pioneer in advertising structure and perception research in Poland.

He is also legal expert and academic reviewer in the area of advertising and creativity.

Arthur Waczko – founder of the Warsaw Advertising Academy – the biggest and most popular advertising school in Poland since the 90s. Creative director and copy writter for 20 years. Film director and journalist. Lecturer among others the Gdynia Film School.

He worked for brands like BMG, ITI, Multikino, Polskie Radio, SAR, TVN TVP.

Szymon Kobusińki is a graduate of the National Film School in Łodź, Poland. Portrait Photography has always been his passion. He has photographed notables of Culture, politicians and top business leaders. He is equally passionate about underwater photography. “Whaternet”, “(un)fulfilled with color” and “Metamorphosis” are some of the latest and most critically acclaimed series. He has created dozens of individual photographic projects, which have been presented during numerous exhibitions and events such as “O2” (Leica Gallery), “The Medalists” (the exhibition created in cooperation with Polish Para-Olympic Committee), “Passion” (patronage of The President of Polish Ski Federation), “To Save From Oblivion” (honorary patronages of Polish Presidents R. Kaczorowski and L. Kaczynski; presented in Polish Embassy in London, Royal Baths in Warsaw and Polish Senate), “The Light of Life” (honorary patronage of The Federation of Polish Artists, presented in Grand Theatre in Warsaw and also in London, Szczecin, Gdansk, Wroclaw, Poznan), “My Time” and “Another World” (National Theatre in Warsaw).

Szymon is a multiple awards winner: “Stylish Nokia” (2004), IPA (2014), Lucie Awards (nominated 2014). BOKEH Fashion Film Festival (nominated). He gets involved in public campaigns such as “The Noble Pack”, “Transcript of the Future”, “Safe Crossing”. Szymon is a co-founder of Studio Bank, Photoproduction brands and the “Save from Oblivion” foundation.
