The first European Lotteries Innovation Award was successfully held in 2015 at the EL Congress in Oslo.
In 2017, the European Lotteries renew the experience for their 9th Congress in Krakow.

The European Lotteries Innovation Award is designed to acknowledge and promote best practices in lottery industry innovation. It is an ideal platform to gain industry exposure for the most important innovations of your Lottery. A lot of exciting and inspiring innovations will be submitted and the most promising will be presented on stage and awarded.

Innovations could be a product, a service or a process for internal or external customers. Whether it increases sales or improves the efficiency of your sales force, the innovative drive is what counts.

Only two conditions to fulfill:
  • You must be a lottery member of European Lotteries
  • Your innovation must have been implemented during the past two years

So don’t hesitate and submit your most innovative achievements for this second edition of the EL Innovation Award!

The Top Ten submissions will be shown at the 2017 EL Congress in Krakow, on June 5th – 7th 2017. They will be granted an “Innovation Award certificate”. The three best rated innovations will be honored with a trophy and will be presented in the EL Magazine.

Submission procedure

Please register on our submission website www.innovationaward.submit.to You will be guided through the submission procedure. A wide range of multimedia materials can be submitted.

Judging process

The jury is made up of industry internal and external experts with a strong background in innovation. The jury will assess all submissions against standardized, predefined and public criteria.

Jury Profiles

Héloïse Lauret

As Head of Innovation at BNP Paribas Cardif since 2012, Héloïse Lauret’s main mission is to develop a culture of innovation in her company. Her challenges? Be aware of what is happening inside and outside the company and transform these insights into projects, facilitate creative workshops, promote new ways of working – more collaborative, more agile, more creative. Find ways to embark the company on innovation to better serve the business, the partners, the clients.
Her conviction is that the most valuable assets that companies have are the people and that it is crucial that organizations start putting them at the center of their transformation process.

Mario Herger

Mario is founder of Enterprise Garage, a boutique consultancy on innovation, Silicon Valley, intrapreneurship, digital transformation and gamification. He is a technology & trend researcher identifying exponential trends and senior leader with 15+ years of experience in corporate innovation in high-tech companies such as SAP. He leads Silicon Valley inspiration tours for executives, helping them to understand the mindset and latest trends, guiding them through the network of innovators and entrepreneurs. Mario is author of a dozen books and hundreds of blogs and articles. His most recent books are “Das Silicon-Valley-Mindset” and the upcoming “The last driver license holder…”

Hester Hilbrecht

Hester Hilbrecht is a Design Strategist and Design Thinking Evangelist at SAP in Berlin, were she manages co-Innovation projects with customers. Before that, she worked in the SAP Labs in Palo Alto with developers on integrating the user’s needs into the development of new products and services. She was first infected with the love for Design Thinking at the Hasso Plattner School of Design Thinking in Potsdam, where she studied for one year. After that she used these skills at a German publishing company and later, when she decided to move to the Bay Area, she would help infuse developers at SAP with Design Thinking methodologies. Hester is also a speaker at different conferences such as TEDx.

Niki Ernst

Niki lives the live of a nomad. He commutes between Vienna and San Francisco and spends about 10 days per month in various cities on top of that – depending on conferences which are engaging him as a coach of speakers. In Silicon Valley, he organizes intensive weeks for Silicon Valley Inspiration Tours where he is also a founding member. In this program, 10 participants can discover where their personal and professional journey could lead them. “I want to change the life of 10 people, every month” – is his credo. Alumni of this program confirm this effect.

Pedro do Carmo Costa

Pedro is a co-founder and partner at Intersection Ventures, a company builder at the intersection of human and machine to solve consumer and industry specific problems. Prior to this he co-founded and led the business development efforts at Exago, a leading innovation software company.
His career has centered on the art and science of innovation for over 16 years. He has worked to help large companies build an internal capacity for innovation, to evolve and grow successfully. Prior to co-founding Exago, he worked as a Managing Director at Strategos, a leading strategic innovation company, with innovation thought leaders such as Gary Hamel and Peter Skarzynski. Furthermore, he has lectured in different universities and is an active guest speaker with a focus on Innovation Competence Building, Engagement and Collective Intelligence.

Dietmar Dahmen

Dietmar Dahmen started out as a strategic planner, and later moved on to become a highly decorated creative. He was Creative Director with DDB, Executive Creative Director with Ogilvy, Chief Creative Officer and Managing Director with BBDO.
Today, Dietmar works independently as a professional speaker and consultant for change, innovation and disruptive market strategies with global clients and worldwide engagements. Dietmar is on the board of advisors with various companies in Europe and the US and holds the position of Chief Innovation Officer with „ecx.io“.
Dietmar is member of the Creative Club Austria, the Art Directors Club Germany and functions as the expert for digital transformation and innovative marketing with the European Association of Communication Agencies (EACA). He is also member of the SAP Business Expert Circle and CMO.com with Adobe worldwide.

André Noël Chaker

André has been an innovative executive in the media, technology and lottery industries for the past twenty years. He is also a bestselling business author and one of Finland’s most popular inspirational speakers on the topics of entrepreneurship and innovation. He has served as director of entertainment and new business development at the Finnish National lottery Veikkaus. Though his new consultancy at C&C Global Advocates, he is now leading and supporting a host of innovative start-ups in the fields of publishing and gaming.

David Caygill

David is a specialist in technology driven innovation. He is a hybrid of strategic, creative and technology capabilities and for the last 17 years he’s been applying emerging technologies to big problems to give the brands he works for the competitive edge. He’s been responsible for developing innovative new game concepts and products for the National Lottery in the UK and also led new product development for a consortium of European lotteries. As managing director of the iris Nursery he also incubates startups and match-makes them with brands.

Alongside practical work he’s also a thought leader on tech, innovation and retail. As a speaker at industry events he’s a regular contributor to South By South West as a presenter and interactive awards judge, presented a keynote on next generation retail at World Retail Congress in Dubai and contributes to Campaign, Contagious, Brand Republic and The Drum.
